Odd fact

As I was heading home from work today, the weatherman gave us a strange fact. We have not hit freezing once, since the start of the new year. Imagine that, not once did we hit 32 degrees. I am almost afraid to go back and check how long it has been since we saw it. How sad to think you look forward to getting to that magical temperature.
They did finally sand our road. After 3 cars have gone in the ditch. Looks like they used five gallons worth of it, on our 2 mile stretch of road. (cheap buzzturds) All the other roads got loaded with sand, but not ours. Last time they bothered to do a decent job on our road was right after the school bus almost went in the ditch. That was probably 10 years or more ago.
Don't you just love country living :D

Dumb kids

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) - Two 16-year-old students at Chippewa Falls High School could face charges after one allegedly punched a classmate to earn $10 from the other.

A girl has been arrested on two counts of battery, and a boy has been referred to juvenile court on two counts of party to the crime of battery.

Chat wandering

I was bored this morning, so I decided to wander around the rooms of Yahoo. Being a reg in two chat rooms, you kind of get use to how people talk and their personalities. You know who you can trust and who you shouldn't. (haven't been burned yet) So I went to see what it was like in some other rooms. It wasn't as bad as I would have thought. Every room had bots of some form, which I expected. They had a wide variety of people. From friendly to obnoxious. A/S/L (age/sex/location) is alive and well out there, which we don't use in the help rooms. We really don't need that in order to help you with your computer problem. So all in all, it was a nice experience, for the most part.
(I went into Police & Fire, Computer Lobby, and Pagan chat)

If you ever get bored, you might try it sometime.

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. This particular quiz had true and false statements about me. The orange highlighted phrases are true, the purple highlighted phrases are not true. The ones not highlighted are more or less neutral.

work

Monday they started training me on a new machine at work. I didn't realize just how very brave (or stupid) my bosses are.

Since starting there 2 years ago, I have earned a bit of a reputation for breaking things. On the upside, I have also learned how to fix those things. The maintenance guys know they only need to show me once, leave me the tools, and I won't be calling them back.

So, on Monday I walk into work, and the supervisor tells me I'm going to be running the 62" rotary cutter. I gave a slight look of shock as I explained I hadn't run that machine yet. I get a five minute crash course, then I'm left to my own devices. The R/O (rate of operation) for that machine, with 2 people (I had a packer) was 4.1 cases an hour. Today they gave me my R/O evaluation, I made 8.1 cases an hour. (does the happy me dance. oh yeah :D ) One of my coworkers told me ahead of time I broke rate, because she had heard them talking about it in the office, but I was still surprised I almost doubled it my first time on the machine. I have a bit of a competitive streak in me, so my goal next time will be to best myself.

What they neglected to tell me ahead of time, was that the material I would be working with has extremely sharp edges. (it's only paper for gawd sake) The tops of my hands now look like I played with razor blades and lost.

New President

Today Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States.

I was going to give a little personal opinion (rant) on this particular subject, but I decided to save it for another day.
Let the new Pres. have his moment.

California to withhold state tax refunds

"We can't pay you yet." That is what California is telling businesses and their residents.

(CNN) -- The check isn't in the mail, and it's not going to be for at least 30 days, California will start telling some of its creditors in February.
Among those who will be left waiting for checks are thousands of businesses that provide services and products to the state; more than 1 million aged and disabled Californians who need to pay for rent, utilities or food; and individuals and businesses awaiting tax refunds to the tune of $1.91 billion.

The rest of the article can be found here

Um, just what exactly would happen if residents and businesses starting saying, "Sorry, I can't pay my taxes right now" ? Or if they decided to stop providing services to the state, for which they are Not getting paid, like most places do if you don't make your payments on time. How many more states will try that on their people? How many businesses will have to lay off workers , because they have no income coming in, with which to pay them? How soon before this country slips into total and utter economic destruction, because no one feels the need to pay who they owe?
Why is it, the state government has the right to say "nope not this month, and probably not next month either", just because they can't curb their spending? Why do innocent residents have to always pay the price ?
Can someone answer any of those questions for me??? Preferably in plain English, without all the governmental BS. I kind of doubt it.

Overland Park Man Calls Statues 'Infuriating To God'

Full article can be found here

I really wish people would just get over it. Although, I am kind of surprised that this time it's a proclaimed "Christian". I was under the impression Christians were taught tolerance. Maybe they are just tired of having everything they believe in slammed to the ground.
In God We Trust
being removed from money. Under God being removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. Nativity scenes being removed from public places. Yeah, I can understand being cranky.

BUT........... How is it going to help your case to start acting like the rest of them.

Being Pagan, I don't get all upset over these little religious skirmishes regarding the removal of statues, phrases, scenes, what have you. I believe in: Live and let live. I also don't believe in forcing someone to follow my beliefs.

I just knew it. Mother Nature wasn't happy with just giving us frigid cold, she had to toss in high winds to go with it. Can someone point me in the direction of the nearest HOT deserted island? Come to think of it, I will even put up with people on it, as long as it is HOT.

Thursday
Mostly Cloudy, High -2°, Low -6°

OK this is wrong on so many levels. When the daily high can't even break 0. This temperature is BEFORE any windchill is factored in. And from what I am seeing, we will be having some wind. Which means that number is going to drop like a stone.
Mother Nature, no offense intended, but would you QUIT this chit.

How the economy is affecting small towns

This is one of four car dealers in the small town nearest us. It was one of the longest runnings businesses around. Now it's gone. The auto bailout isn't going to help them any, and it isn't going to help the rest of the small dealers either. So while people in Detroit and all those other big cities whine about lost jobs if they don't get this money, our town has already lost them.

Kiefer Sutherland - Hunk of the month

Jack is back. The new '24' episodes are just around the corner. In honor of such a momentous occasion, I am posting a verrrrrrrry nice pic of Kiefer Sutherland. If you're a big fan of '24' you can also check out the blogs.4bauer website here.

Song of the week

I absolutely love classic rock. It is probably one of my favorite genres. I hadn't heard this song in forever and decided to post a link to it. It has a real nice beat, without being headbanging. (although nothing wrong with that kind of music either )
This is Winger - Can't Get Enough

Tucker

This picture was taken by my daughter. The puppy is growing fast. Don't let that innocent look fool you, when he goes into hyper-puppy mode, he literally flies around the house, bouncing off of furniture.

quiz

Your result for The 4-Variable IQ Test...

Mathematical

10% interpersonal, 20% visual, 20% verbal and 50% mathematical!

Brother-from-another-mother! Like mine, your highest scoring intelligence is Mathematical. You thrive on logic, numbers, things representing numbers, and sets of things that are sets of other things, with numbers nowhere in sight. You probably like the online comic called XKCD, and if you don't, check it out.

You probably knew you'd score "Mathematical" as you took the test, and mathy types are usually super-high scorers on this axis, and low on the others. Why? Because you (we) yearn for math.

Anyway, your specific scores follow. On any axis, a score above 25% means you use that kind of thinking more than average, and a score below 25% means you use it less. It says nothing about cognitive skills, just your interest.

Your brain is roughly:

10% Interpersonal

20%Visual

20%Verbal

50%Mathematical

Matching Summary: Each of us has different tastes. Still, I offer the following advice to the world.

1. Don't date someone if your interpersonal percentages differ by more than 20%.

2. Don't be friends with someone if your verbal percentages differ by more than 25%.

3. Don't have sex with someone if your math scores differ by over 40%. You might kill them.

Update: You can take the quiz here, Sorry folks .

Yep, that would be me to a T.

Robbers Target OxyContin In Grand Chute

Grand Chute - Police in Grand Chute are searching for two suspects that terrorized an elderly couple in Grand Chute in an early morning home invasion robbery.
Police Seargent Todd Zolkowski said one suspect had a gun, and the two demanded the prescription painkiller OxyContin when they entered the home around 2am Friday.
The two got away with the drugs and some cash.

According to police, there were two people in the home, a man and a woman, and one of them was hit in the head with the gun, causing a cut that required stitches. Both were taken to Appleton Medical Center, treated and released.

It’s the second of two home invasions in the area in recent months. In both cases the suspects demanded the prescription drug.

Police said there has been an increase in thefts targeting prescription drugs, and the thieves either sell the drugs or steal them for their own habits.

Police believe this was not a random act and are now searching for the suspects. They say the men are between 22 and 30 years old. The first suspect is either White or Hispanic, between 5’2’’ and 5’3, ” and was wearing a brown sweater and a black bandana. The second suspect was White, 5’8” -5’9.” He had Orange or Light Brown Hair and was wearing black clothing and a red bandana.

What's going to happen if they break in a place with no drugs? If they are indeed armed, things could go from bad to extremely ugly very quickly.
