Dayton Mother Caught Breast Feeding and Driving

Hmmmmmm, engage brain before getting behind the wheel.

A Dayton mother is facing charges for breast feeding her daughter while driving her other children to school.

Police say Comptom could have injured her child and others because she was breast feeding and talking on the cell phone while driving the vehicle.

Ok one is bad enough, but nursing AND talking on a cell phone?

Compton said she will take the advice of the officers into consideration

Advice? She broke the dayem law, for gawd sake. There is Nothing to take into consideration.

She could face up to 180 days in jail and fines for the child endangering citation.

I hope they throw the book at her.

It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to drive home tonight. I only live 30 miles from work. We had snow, high winds and sleet, creating near white out conditions. And of course it was full dark out, which didn't help. I had to stop 6 times just to de-ice my windshield enough so I could see. To say I am slightly stressed is putting it mildly. I hate winter, and Mother Nature isn't high on my love list either.

Mother Nature can bite me. And where the heck is that global warming I was promised?

(To all my buddies to the East of me, I'm sending tomorrow's storm your way.)

David Cook - concert

Went to the David Cook concert last night, at the Weidner Center, in Green Bay. It was absolutely fantastic.
Who is David Cook you ask? He was the 2007 winner of American Idol.
Now, I can hear some of you groaning already. American Idol yick. Well, let me tell you...... I have heard a couple great singers come out of Idol, and not necessarily as the winner.

Chris Daughtry was the first one. He wasn't the winner, but from that season, he was in my opinion, the best. I particularly like this youtube video because it includes the lyrics, for those of you who may not know the song.
Here is Daughtry singing - It's not over

David Cook was the other one, and he was the winner. Which, again in my opinion, he earned. Excellent singer. And fantastic in concert.
Here is David Cook singing - Light On

If you ever get a chance to go see either one, I would highly recommend going.

Early Release likely for state inmates

Our esteemed Governor wants to release nonviolent prison inmates early, to help save the state some money.

Governor Jim Doyle wants nonviolent offenders to be able to get out of jail sooner by earning days off their sentences with good behavior.
What the heck happen to Truth in Sentencing? The law they passed years ago, forcing inmates to serve their whole sentence.

"You go and behave yourself in prison and you do what you are supposed to do, there is actually some incentive for you to do well," Doyle said.
Yep, you couldn't behave well enough to stay the heck out of prison.

"I think the feeling is that if somebody lands in prison or jail, they probably belong there," Brown County District Attorney, John Zakowski, said.
The voice of reason.

Something Very Different - From Me To You

From: Snigs

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. But you will, because it’s from me!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It’ll be done this year.
4. You have no clue what it’s going to be.
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a fabulous homemade gift by me. Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it.

So….who will be the first 5 people?

training the pup

We've been working on training the pup to alert us when someone is at the door. It's not quite as easy as you think with a rambunctious 7 month old lab. His basic commands are coming along fine, but we want a whole lot more from him.
A couple of days ago, he woke from a sound sleep, jumped up off the couch, stood up at the kitchen door and barked. I hadn't heard anyone pull in the drive, so I figured he was hearing things. Imagine my surprise, when I got up and checked, to see a friend of ours coming up the hallway stairs. Tucker may not have heard the vehicle pull in, but he heard the outer door open and close. He may not be impressive enough at his age and size to scare anyone off yet, but give him time :D
Labs were never meant to be attack dogs, which we don't want, but what we do want is a dog who will let us know when someone is here. And labs make great early warning sirens.

There just isn't anything I can add, to make that anymore humorous. It speaks for itself.
