Spring...?

Each year, about this time, people start talking about the flowers they see poking through the ground. Here at the Lost household, we do things a little differently. You can tell spring is on the way when you see...

Yes, that is indeed a tennis ball. Every winter we lose about 4 dozen of them, somewhere in the yard. Every spring, as the snow starts to melt, they pop up like brightly colored flowers, waiting to be picked (up). And that, my friends, is how I know spring is on the way.

Contrary to the following 3 day forecast that is...

Cold? Nahhhhhhh

We are currently under yet another wind chill warning, for the next couple of days. They are calling for down to -50 wind chill for tomorrow. I of course blame Canada. We have the following "advice" from our trustee officials - In Wisconsin, the state department of transportation is urging people to avoid driving if possible. If they must drive, they should carry a fully charged cell phone, have at least half a tank of gasoline and tell somebody where they're going.

I would love to be able to follow the first line of advice, but I am pretty sure my boss wouldn't be all that understanding. School has been closed so often this winter already, I am curious how they plan to make those days up, especially if we get any actual snow days on top of this. It is only the end of January after all.

As a side note, we are once again colder than many areas of Alaska.

What's the date?

Last time I checked today was April 16th. Double checks to be sure..... yep, still is. I look outside and I would swear it was late November. It's snowing here. Yes, that 4 letter S word. Mid April and the ground is white. Temperature with windchill is 22. Yes I used the W word also. What the holy heck is Mother Nature thinking. Does she need to go out on a bender or something? Or did she already do that. A few days ago our state was hammered with tornadoes, last night we had sleet. Today it's snow. I would greatly appreciate some of that global warming right about now. I'm chilled to the bone.

snow pics

Yesterday we got a lot of snow. We went from having nothing on the ground to this.

Dear Mother Nature

Dear Mother Nature,
I greatly appreciate you listening to me before about wanting a snow day during the week. But once was sufficient, thanks.

sincerely,
Easily Lost

We're between the top two areas. Drifts of over four feet all over the place. It is still snowing here. It's 1:30 p.m. and the plows have not gone down the street yet. I'll upload some pics the kids took of the storm last night and hopefully a video of what is lovingly referred to as "thundersnow" sometime later today. It was a spectacular storm to watch and listen to. Thunder, lightening and snow :D And to think, this is only the third day of spring.

Be careful what you wish for

Remember not that long ago I was asking Mother Nature to just maybe have a storm in the middle of the week to break things up? Well she heard me........ and how!! Check out the forecast for Wednesday. And Friday isn't looking so great either :|

Storms

I took Monday off due to the crappy storm we got late Sunday. Ten inches of the frozen white crap, and high winds made travel hazardous. Now the weatherman has the audacity to say we might be getting another one this Sunday. W T F is with this, can't we get one in the middle of the week just to break things up?

Here are the first pics of the season. We will add more when the darn wind dies down. These were taken by my daughter. Click on any of them to enlarge.

Blizzard Warning

Mother Nature, in her extremely vengeful state, has decided to grace us with a full blown blizzard. Over a foot of snow and high winds, which will reduce visibility to 0. Don't you just love her wicked sense of humor? I, of course, will be a smart cat and stay home if we get the predicted forecast.

Beautiful weekend

Who could ask for more beautiful weather for a four day weekend. Not me, that's for sure! I think I will open all the windows and let mother nature in for the next few days. Get some fall cleaning done, maybe spruce the yard up some also.

We got RAIN!!

I kid you not folks. We finally got some very much needed rain last night. Granted, not as bad as the southwestern half of the state was hit. Some of those areas received between 3 and 5 inches of the stuff, but they also got hail, ranging in size from tennis ball to friggin baseball size. (I'm very glad we didn't get that) I was so excited this morning when I woke up to take the dogs outside, and there were PUDDLES in the driveway :D

raindrips

Well, that was the extent of the rain we got today, those few pitiful drops on the windshield of my jeep. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Pardon the poor picture quality, I took that with my phone, at lunchtime, at work.
