Spring...?

Each year, about this time, people start talking about the flowers they see poking through the ground. Here at the Lost household, we do things a little differently. You can tell spring is on the way when you see...

Yes, that is indeed a tennis ball. Every winter we lose about 4 dozen of them, somewhere in the yard. Every spring, as the snow starts to melt, they pop up like brightly colored flowers, waiting to be picked (up). And that, my friends, is how I know spring is on the way.

Contrary to the following 3 day forecast that is...

signs of spring

These are just a few signs of spring around our place. The air is scented with lilacs and apple blossoms. I LOVE it.

Snow Day

Well it was bound to happen, it does every year. We got hammered by a storm. Estimates are now up to 10-14 inches by the time it stops, somewhere around midnight tonight. Being the smart cat that I am, I decided to stay home. Pretty much every school in the area is closed, except my daughter's tech school. She's not going in either though. So, seeing as my family is safe at home, I give you Let It Snow by Frank Sinatra

Baby it's cold out there

Got up this morning and checked the weather. It was 1 degree outside. Why bother giving us that one stinking degree? Do you think it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Well it doesn't! My jeep complained rather loudly at having to start, and I don't blame it one bit. I didn't want to start either. Good thing I have Fridays off and only had to drop the daughter off at school as her car is in the shop getting new tires. Ran to the store, picked up some things we needed, and high tailed my frozen butt home.
I am so ready for summer. The hotter the better. Not a good sign seeing as how winter hasn't even really started here yet.
(thinks warm thoughts, the kind that don't land you in jail :P )

It had to happen

Well, it's happened. The weatherman is calling for a chance of rain turning to that 4 letter S word for Monday. I am sooooooo not ready for winter. I am a warm weather, Hot summer days, kind of person. Not minus 30 degree wind chill, kind of person.

Soon we will be a$$ deep in the white chit here, and once again I will have to wrestle mother nature for the right to remain on the road for my 60 mile round trip to work.

I really think I may have been switched at birth, and somewhere down south there is someone who absolutely loves cold weather.

Autumn

As summer slowly releases us from her heated embrace, autumn welcomes us with her cooling kisses. Her visual displays of reds, oranges, and yellows, perhaps the most colorful season of all, are but a fleeting moment in time. Winter is just around the corner, but to ignore autumn's offerings is pure seasonal neglect. It is a time of harvest, and celebration.

My personal favorite holiday is coming up soon. Samhain, All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween if you prefer.

For now enjoy the last few days of warm sunshine, enjoy the riot of colors provided to you, live life to the fullest.
